I'M BREASTFEEDING MY NEWBORN. IS THERE ANYTHING I SHOULD AVOID EATING/DRINKING BEFORE MY NEWBORN SESSION?

Breastfeeding Food Guide
This list is a helpful guide of common foods to avoid while nursing. These foods typically affect babies under 6 weeks of age. Every baby is different, so be sure to consult with your Pediatrician if you have any concerns or questions. Remember, these are just tips/suggestions and not to be considered medical advice.
Citrus Acidic Foods and Drinks such as:
Cranberries
Pineapple
Grapefruit
Oranges
Lemons
Strawberries
All Berries
Tomatoes or tomato products (ketchup, sauces, etc.)
Chocolate (rarely affects babies)
Peanuts - and nuts in general
Pizza
Spaghetti
Chili
Tacos
Spicy Foods such as Mexican Foods, Peppers, Salsa
Soda, Coffee, Tea
Wine and Beer
Energy, Diet or Sports Drinks with caffeine
Gassy Vegetables - including:
Asparagus
Onions
Cucumbers/Pickles
Broccoli
Cauliflower
Brussel Sprouts
Cabbage
Check with your physician to see if dairy is an issue for your baby.
If your baby is gassy (in general), I highly suggest you avoid all of the foods mentioned above for 48 hours prior to your session! Be sure to always keep yourself hydrated - drink plenty of water - and don't forget to eat healthy meals and snacks! Remember, you're eating for you and your baby!
